Guests: Expected and Unexpected

Day 60 (September 22, 2021) We drove to Phoenix to pick up Veronica. As we drove into the airport, we got a text: "we're by door 7 in terminal 4."  "We?" we thought? That doesn't make sense, we're just picking up Veronica right? But when we got to the airport... Josh was there too! He'd flown all the way from Chicago to join us for the next week of our trip! We were beyond surprised by the new addition. We somehow managed to squeeze both of them and all their stuff into Blue. The back seat was much tighter than we expected, but we think it will work for the next week. We ordered burritos and enchiladas from a Mexican restaurant in Phoenix, then ate dinner on the floor of our AirBnb. We're both so excited to have friends along with us! Day 61 (September 23, 2021) After rearranging everything in Blue in order to create a more comfortable seating arrangement, the four of us headed off  to Sedona for a Pink Jeep tour! Day 56 (September 18, 2021) Before we left on this trip, our friend Zach had mentioned to us that he had some friends in Utah who like to play Spikeball. Well, we were in Utah at this point, and had a hankering for some Spikeball. We asked Zach to connect us, and told him that we could drive anywhere in the state. It turns out his friends live in St. George, Utah, about a 5 hour drive from Moab. After some texts back and forth with his friend Elinor, we hopped in Blue and drove across the state! Elinor gathered a whole crew of enough players to have two games going at once! The Spikeball was most excellent. We had such a good time playing with our new acquaintances. The games were surprisingly high-level, and featured lots of good rallies. That evening we drove out into the desert to camp, and watched the clouds put on a show with the help of the full moon. Day 57 (September 19, 2021) This morning we woke up and headed to Harmon's grocery store, which Elinor recommended to us as an

Days 53 - 56 (September 15, 2021 - September 18, 2021) For a few days we stayed in Castle Valley, just outside of Moab. Kim and Lori offered to let us stay in the vacation yurt they built there, which was a little haven in an amazing place. It even had a quite the view from the composting toilet. We had lovely evenings at the yurt... Appetizing on chips with Monisha's new favorite salsa: Feasting on burgers and wine on the porch: Reading and drinking seltzers at happy hour:  We also played Innovation and card + dice games, made hot cocoa, and of course watched some more Downton Abbey! Our first full day in the area, we explored Canyonlands, an awesome and much less crowded counterpart to Arches (which seems to be full most days). Mesa Arch is one of the most famous structures in Canyonlands. We had seen pictures of it, and were amazed by how much cooler it is in real life! For some reason seeing a stunning view through  an arch is much more striking than the sum of its parts. Anywa
